During the Second World War, Lidia worked in a hospital. She took care of a wounded officer and fell in love with him. After the war, they got married, and some years later her husband became a general. One day the general was urgently summoned to the Ministry, and Lidia went to the theater. On her way home after the performance, she meets her husband's driver. He asks her not to go into the apartment, as there is a search there in connection with the arrest of the general.
