The Child of Peach is a fine artifact of weird Asia cinema, which falls mostly in the fantasy/adventure sub category. It definitely leans towards being a family/children's film, and therefore a lot of the grotesque qualities are replaced by color and silliness (not that that's going to be a shock to you if you are familiar with weird Asian films).
