‘Just Leave Daddy Be’ is a documentary about the twelve year old Melvin, whose stepfather Hans has a personality disorder. During almost two years director Debbie Kleijn filmed the family in their daily struggle to cope with the problems of Hans. The documentary unravels the vulnerability of children in problematic family situations. While the adults are entangled in their own problems, the young Melvin keeps his worries to himself.
