Поль (Стефани Гуильон) имеет удивительную работу. Он автор речей, которые произносят на похоронах. Может ещё и поэтому он просто создан для одиночества, как и его сосед Виктор (Пьер Ришар). Но все меняется, когда молодая вдова Эмма (Жюли Гайе) просит главного героя об одолжении. Она попросила, чтобы Поль сыграл роль отца для ее сына, у которого на днях будет очередной день рождения.
