Pixote, a 10-year-old runaway boy, is arrested on the streets of Sao Paulo during a police round-up homeless people. Pixote endures torture, degradation and corruption at a local youth detention center where two of the runaways are murdered by policemen who frame Lilica, a 17-year-old transvesite hustler. Pixote helps Lilica and three other boys escape where they make their living by the life of crime which only escalates to more violence and death. - IMDb

Рассказывая о судьбе своего героя, режиссёр Гектор Бабенко продолжает традицию таких фильмов, где у юных созданий не может быть ни чистоты, ни невинности. Таковы созданная Росселини картина «Германия. Год нулевой» и драма «Четыреста ударов» Трюффо. Подробности жизни Пишоте режиссёр показывает со всеми ужасающими подробностями. Это и сцены насилия в исправительных заведениях, и связь мальчика с пожалевшей его проституткой, и жертва аборта в грязной корзине. В съёмках «Пишоте. Закон самого слабого» участвовали дети из трущоб. Бабенко платил им, чтобы они играли самих себя и вкладывали в картину свой собственный опыт…
